Obituaries

Chauncey S. Lehmann of Middletown, son of the late William F. and Sarah W. Lehmann, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, February 6, 2022. He was 89 years old. Born in Mercer County, Chauncey grew up in the Bayshore area of Middletown and considered himself a true clam digger. He graduated from Leonardo High School (now Middletown North), Class of 1951, where he lettered in all sports but baseball was his passion. He and his brother Bill were well known in the area for their play with American Legion baseball and the Leonardo Field Club.

Chauncey went on to play semi-pro ball with the Roswell (New Mexico) Rockets of the Longhorn League until he was drafted into the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. Chauncey was employed in marine construction in the New York Metro area, retiring from Spearin, Preston, & Burrows, Inc.

Mildred “Doris” Anderson Kuebler, 98, of Tinton Falls, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2022 at Seabrook Village, Tinton Falls, New Jersey.

Mildred was born June 9, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York to William M. and Mildred A. Anderson. Mildred was a graduate of Grover Cleveland High School, Caldwell, NJ in 1939. She went to Secretarial School in Montclair, New Jersey. She joined the W.A.V.E.S. in 1943 and was assigned to U.S. Intelligence in Washington, D.C. until the end of World War II in 1946.

She earned her B.A. and Master’s Degree from Kean College. She was an Executive Secretary for Bell Telephone Laboratories, where she met her beloved husband, William Kuebler, who was an Electrical Engineer.

BETH EMERICK 82 LINCROFT - Sarah (Beth) Emerick (nee McNamara) was born on Christmas day, which was apropos for the way she lived her life and passed away on Feb. 1. 2022. Beth was born in Escanaba Michigan and raised in the small town of Ubly.

She moved to Lincroft in 1965, where she raised her family and lived at 182 Manor Parkway for 45 years. Beth worked as a dedicated RN and went above and beyond for every patient, which developed into lasting friendships with many of them. Beth was a well-liked member of her community, where you were guaranteed to see her at St. Leo’s church, or “the center”. She always had a smile on her face, and when you ran into her, you could count on hearing one of her many cliches. An avid baseball and football fan, the Yankees were her team, and there was no changing the channel if there was a game on.

Eleanore Miceli (nee O’Donnell), of Tinton Falls, passed away on February 3, 2022. She was born in Jersey City and resided in Tinton Falls for 51 years. She retired from Brookdale Community College in 1990.

Eleanore was an avid seamstress and had a passion for needlework and gardening.

She is predeceased by her husband Leonard; her parents Mary and Thomas O’Donnell; sisters Miriam and Dorothy and brothers Thomas and Joseph O’Donnell. She is survived by her daughters Jeannette and her husband Peter Lepre and Laura and her husband John Miceli; her grandsons Steven Park and his wife Lindsey and Matthew Miceli and his wife Terren-Lee and many nieces and nephews.

Paul Andrew McGrade, 56, of West Long Branch, one of the greatest, yet humble men to ever walk the Earth, departed peacefully from this life on February 1st, 2022. He passed surrounded by his loving and wonderful family.

Paul is predeceased by his father and mother, Robert and Joan McGrade, and his siblings Geralyn, Mark, Matthew, and Peter. He is presently enjoying all of their company once again. 

Paul is survived by the love of his life Amanda, (she may debate that claim), and his three incredible children, Peter, Aubrey, and Addison, and his siblings and best friends Robert, Gregory, Regina, and John and sister-in-laws Carol McGrade and Gay Lowden.

Paul grew up in Rumson, NJ and attended the Rumson school district graduating from RFH High School in 1983. He made many great longtime friends there and managed to escape the building innumerable times without detection, sometimes in a teacher’s car, creating hilarious lifelong memories, thank goodness for Max Matern.

Margaret “Marge” Helen May was born February 22, 1936, in Long Branch, New Jersey. Marge passed away on December 28, 2021, at her home in Lamar, Colorado with her loving family at her side at the age of 85. She was the fifth of six children born to Gaetano and Angela Maria (Avallone) Ferraro. Both her parents immigrated from a village near Naples in southern Italy to New Jersey. Marge grew up in Red Bank, New Jersey. She was known as “Maggie” to her brothers, she said that name was used mostly to aggravate her. Marge graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School in 1953. Her favorite childhood memories were spending her summers at the New Jersey shore and crabbing with her brothers.

Sandra Jean Coger, 74, of Ocean Twp, passed away suddenly on January 28^th, 2022.

She was born in Chicago, IL on December 10, 1947.  She spent her early childhood in Michigan before moving to Edison, NJ and then settling with her family on Woodview Drive in Old Bridge when she was in her early teens.  The families on Woodview Drive formed lifelong friendships that time and distance couldn’t fade.  She graduated from Madison Township High School in 1965. 

Thorel Geltzeiler, 96 (nee Denniston) of Oceanport, NJ passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022. She was born in Maplewood, New Jersey on September 14, 1925 to her parents Adele and William Denniston. Thorel was predeceased by her husband Neil in 2005, the love of her life. She is survived by her children Barbara (John) Weber, Bruce (Kathleen) Geltzeiler, William (Karen) Geltzeiler, and Phillip Geltzeiler. Her grandchildren, Aaron (Michelle) Weber, Lara (Kevin) Lafin, Jessica (Michael) Roberto, William (Christine) Geltzeiler. Jr., Daniel (Katelyn) Geltzeiler, Timothy Geltzeiler, Anne (Landon) Lewandowski, Dylan Geltzeiler, Jack Geltzeiler and Kyle Geltzeiler. Great-grandmother of Keelyn, Brianna and Ciara Weber, Ryan Lafin, Wyatt Geltzeiler, Brady Roberto, Lily Geltzeiler, Carmella Roberto and Dominick George Geltzeiler.

Thomas J. Canzoneri, 83, of Little Silver, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2022.

Thomas was a supervisor for the Ford Motor Company in Teterboro, NJ. He was also a volunteer fireman with the Emerson NJ Fire Department.

A loving father and grandfather, Thomas also loved cars, music, gardening, home improvement projects and his wife Maureen.

Thomas is predeceased by his sister Judith Canzoneri. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Maureen; his sons Kevin Canzoneri & his wife Michelle and Craig Canzoneri & his wife Shelly; his stepchildren Arthur Seitter & his wife Ellen and Margaret Riker; grandchildren Katherine E. Riker, John C. Riker, Edward W. Riker, Olivia Seitter, Michael Canzoneri, Josh Canzoneri, Jesse Canzoneri; and great grandchild Hunter Canzoneri.

Donald Noble Gill, 86, of Shrewsbury Borough, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning surrounded by his family.

Raised in Ridley Park, PA, Don was a star athlete in high school, most notably as pitcher of the baseball team. After graduating Penn State University, he attended medical school at Temple University, the same institution where his father became a dentist years earlier. It was at Temple that Don met his wife Arlene, with whom he would go on to share his life for almost 60 years.
