Obituaries

Marilyn H. Altschul (nee Finnegan) passed away quietly at home on 10/20/22 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in The Bronx, New York and resided at Shady Oaks in Red Bank, NJ for the past 25 years.

In Marilyn’s youth, her family moved many times to various places in the New York City area but enjoyed her high school years at the all-girls, Catholic school of Notre Dame Academy on Staten Island, NY.

Marilyn met her husband of 54 years, Frank J. Altschul Jr., on the commuter train from Red Bank to New York. Marilyn and Frank lived and raised their four children in Lincroft for almost 30 years. While Marilyn was primarily a homemaker, she held various secretarial jobs using skills learned at the Wood Secretarial School in New York City and proudly achieved a typing speed of over 120 wpm. She went back to work as a secretary when her young chickens flew the coop. She was a long-time and faithful parishioner of the Church of St. Leo the Great in Lincroft.

With deep sadness, we must announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend, Donna Cavett. 

Donna was born in Elizabeth, NJ and lived most of her adult life in South Brunswick, NJ. Donna worked as a Computer Programmer for a large part of her career at L’Oreal and ended her career as a Programmer Analyst for West Windsor Plainsboro school district.

After fighting a courageous battle with Neuroendocrine cancer, she died at age 55 on October 15,2022, surrounded by loved ones.  

We will remember with great joy her passion to travel, her infectious laugh, and her strong Faith. Nothing meant more to her or made her prouder than her family. 

Norman J. Peer of Shrewsbury passed away peacefully on October 13th with his family by his side. 

Known to all who loved him as Norm, he was born in East Orange, N.J., to Andrew Peer and the former Helen Margrett. 

During his childhood his family summered in Atlantic Highlands, which eventually became their year-round home, and is where Norm's lifelong love of the Jersey Shore began.  

Everyone agreed that to know Norm was to love him. He had a gift for making everyone he met feel like they were the most important person in the room. He made time for everyone in his life, and he always had an ear for listening, a joke to tell, or a story to share. 

Margaret W. Henneberry, 100, of Eatontown, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2022, at home.

She graduated from Long Branch High School in 1940 and the Star of the Sea Academy in 1942.

She began working in 1941 with the US Army Corps of Engineers at Ft. Hancock, NJ, as a secretary and from there she became an Assistant Trust Officer for NJ National Bank and also worked for Rowan Industries. She retired in 1993 as the Assistant Administrator for the Borough of Little Silver after 25 years of service.

Margaret was a member of the Long Branch Junior Woman’s Club, St. Michael’s Church Rosary and Altar Society and was a charter member of the Professional Business Women of Monmouth Co. She was a USO WWII Volunteer, a Brownie Troop Leader and a member of the Fort Monmouth Officer’s Woman’s Club Luncheon Chair and Thrift Shop.

Joseph Vincent Pucciarelli of Oceanport, NJ passed away peacefully on October 7, 2022. He lived a very full life of 92 years.
