Obituaries

On December 14th, 2022, Joyce Jablonski passed away at the age of 85.  She was born and raised in Jersey City NJ.  She met and married her high school sweetheart George Jablonski and together they had 4 children and raised them in Matawan NJ.

Margaret Mary Brennan (nee Corbett) passed away on December 15, 2022 after a month’s long battle with cancer.  She was 84 years old. Margaret was born on November 28, 1938 on Staten Island, NY, the youngest child of Michael J. and Mary D. (nee Walsh) Corbett.  Margaret was raised on Staten Island, as a member of Sacred Heart parish, and graduated from St. Peter’s High School for Girls in 1956. She worked as a secretary for the S.N.Eben Corporation, a Manhattan insurance brokerage, until her marriage to Edward T. Brennan on May 14, 1960. The couple had four children and resided in the Westerleigh section of Staten Island, in St. Teresa’s parish, for over 25 years. 

Patrick Brian George, 41, of West Palm Beach passed away peacefully on December 13, 2022. He was born in Beirut, Lebanon and grew up in Rumson, NJ. A graduate of The Marine Academy of Science & Technology high school on Sandy Hook, Patrick excelled academically and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear Engineer. He graduated from Thomas Edison State University with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science & Technology. An avid outdoor lover, he later moved to West Palm Beach, FL to work for the South Florida Water Management District as a Cyber Security specialist and later received his MBA from Florida International University.

Horace Guenter Hagen, 83, of Red Bank, NJ died suddenly on December 14, 2022 at home. He was born on February 4, 1939 in Schleswig-Holstein, a rural area of Northern Germany on the Baltic Sea. In 1953, at the age of 14, Horace and his family immigrated to the United States, coming through Ellis Island and establishing a home in New York City. He attended Evander Childs High School in the Bronx (Class of 1957) and then obtained a degree in Engineering from the Academy of Aeronautics at La Guardia, studying aircraft electrical system design. In 1960, he began his professional career at AT&T Bell Laboratories in New Jersey. His work would span both government and commercial projects, including development of the first video phone. He would remain at the company through several corporate restructurings and retire from there 41 years later in 2001.

Patrick Moran, 91, of Red Bank passed away peacefully on December 10th. He led a full life, starting from simple beginnings to achieve great success both in his career and personal life. Patrick was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. He attended St. Vincent High School, John Carroll University, and Cleveland Marshall Law School. He was the tax director at General Tire Company in Akron, OH.

In 1972, a new job as the tax director of Merck & Co., Inc. brought Patrick to Rumson, New Jersey. The highlight of his career was when he worked with a group to help write the Tax Reform Act of 1986. In 1991, he retired and began to split his time between New Jersey and Fort Myers, Florida. Patrick was an active member of the community culminating in his election to be a councilman in Rumson, a position he held for ten years.

In 1956, Patrick married Ethel McBride. Theirs was a 59-year love affair. They raised four kids, traveled the world, enjoyed playing golf together, and were each other’s best friend. Ethel passed away in February 2016.

Sally Ellen Vogt of Tinton Falls, NJ, passed away on December 3rd 2022 at the age of 73. Sally was born on March 3rd in Long Branch to her parents Sarah and Edward Johnson and grew up in Red Bank in a home built by her grandfather Matthew Power. 

Sally had a very accomplished nursing career, graduating from St. Peters School of Nursing and getting her Master’s Degree from Monmouth College. Her first nursing job was at New York University Hospital in NYC followed by many more including St. Peters Hospital as a Nurse Anesthetist and ending in the Mental health field at Community Care in Freehold. She loved being a nurse and it was her calling to help others. 

Vincent J. Soviero III peacefully left his body surrounded by his family on December 3, 2022, after experiencing a heart attack nearly two weeks prior. 

Jean W. Wotton passed away peacefully on December 2, 2022. One of eight children, Jean was born in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts in 1926. She resided in Lincroft, NJ for 50 years, and most recently in Tinton Falls, NJ for the past 17 years. She is survived by one brother, Kenneth Gunnerson of Keene, NH, her two sons, David Wotton and his wife Marvetta of Ennis, TX, Brian Wotton and his wife Toni of Ocean, NJ, and daughter in-law Patricia Wotton of Fair Haven, NJ. She was blessed with six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Stewart Wotton and her son Rodney J. Wotton.

Josephine D'Agostino, age 97, passed away peacefully at her apartment in Millbrook, NY on December 3, 2022. Josephine was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 18, 1925 to Giuseppe and Antonietta (née Bonsignore) Gioia. Growing up with her parents and two siblings during the Great Depression years imparted a life-long appreciation of the value of hard work, frugality and practicality. She first met her husband-to-be, Frank D'Agostino, while her family was considering moving to a property owned by his family. Several years later, while in college, their paths crossed again and thus began a life-long love affair. World War II intervened in their plans with Frank being called to duty in the military. They were married in 1945 while he was stationed in Abilene, Texas.

After his military service was completed, they moved to Memphis, Tennessee where Frank attended dental school. Jo put college graduation on hold and worked at the local telephone company to help put Frank through school. Following his graduation and postgraduate training, the couple returned to Brooklyn where Frank established his 41-year dental practice. Jo graduated from dental assistant school and they worked together in the earlier years of his practice, even while raising their three children. Always one to finish a project, she returned to college after the children were in school and completed her BA degree in Anthropology.

Thomas E. Hintelmann passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Dec. 2, 2022. One of four brothers, Tom was born in Red Bank, New Jersey to Lavinia and Joseph P. Hintelmann on Jan.13,1937. He graduated from Saint James Elementary School and Red Bank Catholic High School (Class of ‘54). He continued his Catholic education at Fairfield University. Upon graduating he began his teaching career at Red Bank Catholic High School where he taught, alongside his brother Joe, for the next 40 years. Tom taught US History, but was also known for giving his students a few good lessons about the weather. He was RBC’s biggest sports fan, and loved attending football and basketball games. While teaching at RBC, he spent his summers working at Sea Bright Beach Club where he met the love of his life, Maureen Dougherty. Tom later married Maureen and raised their 2 children, Tom and Nancy in Red Bank, the town he loved so well. 

Tom served his country, his community and his parish. He was a member of the US Army Reserves. He was elected to the Red Bank Boro Council in 1974 where he would serve the town for the next 30 years in many capacities including Police Commissioner. Tom was a parishioner at Saint James Roman Catholic Church.

Tom’s greatest passion was his family. He loved his wife, children, their spouses, and his grandchildren with all his heart and loved nothing more than spending time with them. In his free time he enjoyed many summers at Chapel Beach Club, watching Notre Dame football and enjoying a Coors Light with friends.
