Frank A. Scalzo was called home on 7/3/23. Born and raised in Rumson, he resided in Fair Haven for over 50 years. Frank graduated from R-FH RHS in ’69 and attended Florida State University. He served in Vietnam in the Air Force and was later deployed oversees as a civilian in support of the Desert Shield, Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom conflicts through his employment at Fort Monmouth, where he received many awards and special commendations.
An avid NASCAR enthusiast, Frank enjoyed many years of RV travel, attending NASCAR races up/down the east coast making many new friends along the way.
Frank was most proud of his 37-year membership in the Fair Haven Volunteer Fire Company #1, where he was an active firefighter for many years, later serving as Captain of the Fire Police. Involved in many Fire Company activities, he only missed the Firemen’s Fair during war/conflict deployments and was a familiar face at Fire Co. car shows and Christmas tree sales and could often be found cheering on the baseball team on Sundays. If you walk the grounds during the Fireman’s Fair, you just may feel his spirit there.
Frank is pre-deceased by his parents, Anthony “Tony S” and Mary Scalzo of Rumson and survived by his sister, Cathie Scalzo of Fair Haven.
Visitation Fri 7/7/23 from 6-8pm at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ. Fire Co. service at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Fair Haven Volunteer Fire Co. #1 in his memory.
