John T. Toohey

John T. Toohey died Friday, December 9, 2016. He was predeceased by his parents, Florence and John P. Toohey; a sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Chris Bradley; and a son-in-law, Vincent DiFazio.

John was born in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School and Fordham University. He and his family moved from Staten Island to Lincroft, New Jersey in 1972. He worked in the insurance industry all his life and retired from AIG in 1994. After retirement, he and his wife vacationed in South Carolina for ten years. They settled in Shady Oaks in Red Bank, NJ in 2003.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen, and his five children: John (and wife Connie) Toohey of Lusby MD, Patricia DiFazio (and Gus Wadsworth) of Center Valley PA, Daniel (and wife Laurie) Toohey of Lincroft NJ, Lisa Toohey of Fair Haven NJ, and Kelley Toohey Maul of Oceanport NJ. He is also survived by his brother Gerard, sister-in-law Marie, and many nieces and nephews. The delights of his life were his ten grandchildren: Joseph (and wife Toni), Liane, John, Gina, Dana, Lauren, Jack, Leah, Jake, and Scott.

Mary Ann Lettieri

Mary Ann Lettieri, Age 86, passed away on December 8, 2016. She was born in Indiana, PA and moved to Red Bank in 1948. She was a communicant of Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church, Middletown.

Mary Ann worked for the Dept of the Army at Ft. Monmouth for 35 years. She belonged to the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites; volunteering at Christian Brothers in Lincroft.

William Edward Howarth, Sr.

William Edward Howarth, Sr. passed away, peacefully, on Tuesday, November 29th, 2016. Born in Bayonne, Bill lived most of his life in Jersey City until moving to Lincroft in 2004.

He was predeceased by his parents, Grace Lutier and David Howarth, his brother David, and his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Bridget Coleman. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served during WWII. He worked at Lightolier for 47 years.
Bill liked to dance with his bride, bowl, and spend time in his carpentry shop. Bill was a gentle soul with a wicked sense of humor.

Margaret Healy McNulty

Margaret Healy McNulty known as “Peg” died at Riverview Hospital on November 30th at the age of 87 after a brief illness.

Peg was born in Buffalo, New York, the second of four children of Dr. J. Nelson and Kathryn Healy. After graduating Holy Angels Academy, she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree from Cornell University in 1951. She married Herbert W. McNulty, Jr. on September 22, 1956. After briefly residing in Brooklyn and Philadelphia, the McNulty’s moved to the Rumson Fair Haven area in 1959 to raise three children, Bill, Bob and Kate. Upon Herb’s passing, Peg moved to the Alderbrook Condominiums and finally to the Atrium at Navesink Harbor in 2011.

In 1977 Peg began what was to be a 30 year residential real estate career first working with Four Seasons, then with Jean Burgdorff and finally with Gloria Nilson. This work brought her great satisfaction and at the age of 80 she decided it was probably a good time to retire. All who knew Peg professionally thought of her as an honest and hardworking advocate for her clients.

Kay A. Havens

Kay A. Havens (Koon), 80, of Red Bank, NJ, passed away on 11/30/2016. Kay was born in Ohio and lived in New York, Wisconsin and Montclair, NJ before moving to Red Bank, NJ several years ago. Kay's greatest accomplishment was in obtaining her Real Estate license, and she worked for many years, at Coldwell Banker, in Upper Montclair NJ.

Kay was predeceased by her brother, Norman, her mother, Martha, and her father Norman ("Duke"). Kay is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Margie Havens, her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Debbie Havens, and her daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Dan Thomas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jonathan (and Niki), Daniel (and Cristina), Shannon, Samantha, Dylan and Daniel, and great granddaughters Ally and Maddy.

Kay loved life, she loved to laugh and have a good time, and loved her friends as much as her family. This is evident in any photo ever taken of her. Kay will be truly missed. A special thanks to her most recent family at Wesleyan Arms, in Red Bank, where she had many supportive and caring friends.

Marian T. Adams

Marian T. Adams, at the age of 90, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2016. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Science and R.N. Degree from Hunter College, NY. She taught nursing and then served in Washington D.C. General Hospital for many years in charge of nursing quality assurance. She was active in local theater and played lead roles in The Subject was Roses, All My Sons and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf. She always received excellent reviews including from The Washington Post. After the death of her husband G. Kenneth Adams, she raised her daughter and with pride saw her graduate from college and law school. Marian was an extraordinary mother and grandmother who was always supportive, available, and gave great insight. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie, and her husband, Watson Berich, of Middletown, New Jersey, with whom she resided, as well as her granddaughter, Emily, who she also saw graduate from the Honors College at the College of Charleston, and her beloved dog Asta.

Jeffrey Charles Genovese

Jeffrey Charles Genovese, 51, of Oceanport, NJ, passed away on November 27, 2016. Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Christa Giuca Genovese and their daughter, Milan C. Genovese. He is predeceased by his father, Peter Genovese and survived by his mother, Margaret Genovese and Jeffrey’s in-laws, Philip and Barbara Giuca. He is also survived by his brothers, Peter Genovese and his wife, Dana, and Keith Genovese, and his sister, Tamara Sulzbach and her husband Sean and Jeffrey’s brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Patricia Giuca, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Christa and Milan would like to thank everyone who touched his life and made his journey so beautiful.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 30th at 9:15 a.m. at St. Catharine’s Church, 108 Middletown Rd, Holmdel, NJ. Interment will be private.

Mary Jane Knoll

Mary Jane Knoll, 89, died November 24, 2016, at Regency Grand Nursing Home Dover, NJ.

Jane was born in Middletown, NJ and a long time resident of Red Bank, NJ.
She was a graduate of Red Bank Catholic HS. She worked at Mount English Ford and was a member of Red Bank Board of Health serving for a time as its President. She volunteered at Riverview Hospital and was a part time bookkeeper at Ballew’s Jewelers. Jane was a lifetime member of Ship Ahoy Beach Club in Sea Bright, NJ where she spent many cherished summers with family and friends.

Wendy Payne

Wendy Payne, 70, passed away peacefully at her home in Middletown on November 20, 2016. Wendy spent most of her life in Montgomery, NJ raising her family and teaching in the Edison school district for 30 years. She had recently moved to Middletown to be near family and was thriving in her reconnection with tennis, the arts, traveling, meeting new friends and teaching her grandchildren at every opportunity.

Wendy was an avid student, receiving her Bachelors from Skidmore and Masters from Rutgers in early childhood education. She applied her education into a passion for teaching, touching both her public school students and more profoundly her own children. She brought an energy and creativity to her work, recognizing each child as an individual and challenging herself to bring out their best. Many of her students went on to accomplish great things and shared with her how appreciative they were of Wendy’s early inspiration.

Walter F. Grampp Jr.

Walter F. Grampp Jr., 84, formerly of Lincroft, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016, on Drayton Island, Florida. Walter is survived by his children, Peter Grampp of Lakewood, CO and his wife Julianne, James Grampp of Red Bank, and Barbara Moore of Red Bank and her husband Greg; his grandchildren, Britta Grampp, Cathryn, Gunnar, Anna and Stephen Moore; his sister Marie Cornell of South Plainfield; many nieces and nephews; and his granddog Emma. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Mary Grampp, his wife, Joan Grampp, his son, Walter Frederick Grampp III and his sister Elizabeth O’Brien.

Walter was born in Elizabeth, NJ in 1932. He attended St. Benedict’s Preparatory High School in Newark, and graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1956. He served in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army (1956 to 1958), and then spent his career in the horticultural/nursery business, growing plants and flowers, founding the Shadow Lake Nursery.

Charlotte Elizabeth Dubuss

Charlotte Elizabeth Dubuss, 78, of Red Bank passed away peacefully on November 16, 2016. Charlotte was born in Brooklyn, NY to Christen Charles and Elsie Marie (Froede) Frank. She graduated from Butler High in NJ and worked as a stenographer and Dictaphone typist before finding her true passion of being a wife and stay at home Mom to her four grateful children.

Charlotte went on to explore her passion for the arts as the owner of Amour Florist in Middletown and Riverview Florist in Red Bank for many years. She will be remembered for the gifts the Lord gave her which touched so many lives through her works of art, sewing, cooking, playing piano and many other passions. She will always be remembered for her open loving heart and spirit and her love of God that has led her journey full circle back into his arms to the eternal kingdom of undying peace, joy & love forever.
