Obituaries

Thomas N. Brounley of Fair Haven, NJ passed away peacefully in his sleep February 14, 2021. He was 82 years old. Born to Richard and Barbara “Babs” Brounley, he spent his early childhood in Little Silver, NJ with his twin brother Dr. David W. Brounley of Cincinnati, OH and older brother Richard of Florida.  He was a graduate of Monmouth University and was employed with the US Department of Treasury for 41 years.  

Tom enlisted in the Coast Guard and served as a reservist for 8 years.   He joined the United Methodist Church of Red Bank, NJ where he met the love of his life, Kathleen Murphy.  Tom and Kathy were devoted to each other and in his final years, Kathy became his everything. They were married and had 58 years together.  Tom and Kathy moved to Fair Haven where they raised their daughters Laurie and Amy.  

Joan C. Senese, 62, of Shrewsbury died on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at her home.

Born in Plainfield, she grew up in Metuchen and lived for many years in Middletown.  She attended East Carolina University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy.  She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank, where she served as a deacon and an elder.  She was a perennial volunteer, most recently with the Monmouth County SPCA.  She loved spending time with her family and her many friends.  She was known for caring for her loved ones and her community with generosity and humor: sharing a listening ear, homemade meal, and handmade card.

George Cuje Jr., 90, of Rumson passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Wednesday February 10, 2021.

He was born in Fair Haven, to his parents George and Leola and was raised in Red Bank along with his sisters Sissy, Evelyn and Marjorie and brothers Sonny, Leonard, Robert, Walter and James. He married the love of his life Mary Elizabeth Friscia of Rumson on July 18, 1953, and they moved to Rumson shortly thereafter.

George served in the USMC and was in the 2^nd Motor Transport Battalion, 2^nd Marine Division and was Honorably Discharged at the rank of Sergeant February 18^th 1954. He served his term alongside his childhood buddies William Thorpe and James Braney, hence, sharing many worldly adventure stories with friends and family.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George A. Yetka Jr., age 63. He died suddenly at home, in Holmdel, NJ, on February 8, 2021. George grew up in Middletown, NJ in a family of eleven. He graduated from Middletown North in 1975, then attended Kean College. George worked for his father’s mechanical contracting business, The George A Yetka Corporation. Eventually George started his own business.

George had many hobbies. He was a certified scuba diver and also earned a pilot’s license. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, woodworking, and photography. None of these compared to the joy he received from being “Poppy!” He loved his family more than anything.

After a long illness, Pauline L. Satter 75, passed away peacefully on Feb. 6, 2021.  She was born in Red Bank and resided in Monmouth County her entire life.  She was a parishioner of St. James Church. A proud graduate of RBC where she remained active in community outreach, alumni activities, and reunions.  

Pauline was a bookkeeper for Six Flags, Jackson and lovingly known as the CFO for her husband’s mechanical contracting business.  An original super mom - Pauline was a working mother, homemaker, caregiver, PTA volunteer, and supportive fan at her children’s sporting events.  Pauline was an avid reader, she enjoyed cooking and baking, playing card games, Jeopardy! and spending time with family, friends, especially her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.  

Irene Adele Mansfield (née Zeidler) died at home on January 24, 2021 in Rumson, NJ. She was 96.

Irene was born on Long Island, NY. She graduated from Syracuse University. After marrying her husband, John Mansfield, in 1947, The Mansfields moved to Cliffside Park, NJ where they raised their seven children. She was an active member of Epiphany Roman Catholic Church in Cliffside Park, NJ.  Irene enjoyed cooking for her large family, playing cards with friends, caring for one of the many cats she had adopted through the years, and listening to Frank Sinatra. 

Patricia Harvey Buchsbaum, known affectionately as Pat, passed away in the early hours this past January 30th in Red Bank, NJ, after her courageous battle with Parkinson’s. Pat was born in in 1927 in St Petersburg, FL, eventually moving to Deal where she graduated from Asbury Park High School and voted “Swoon Queen” senior year, and later, Edgewood Park Jr College in Briarcliff, NY.

Marrying Robert ‘Bob’ Buchsbaum in 1950, and settling down in Rumson provided a wonderful life for their family. They spent 60+ years together, enjoying golf, bridge, croquet, annual trips abroad and all the extracurricular fun the Rumson Country Club and Seabright Beach Club provided. Pat’s true passion however, was found in gardening, nature, and appreciation of all things of natural beauty. This led Pat in becoming an active member of the Rumson GCA (Garden Club of America), loving every aspect of the club’s mission. Her sense of style and decorum paired with her warm friendly personality and good humor was a perfect fit for her to thrive and contribute. She enjoyed all of the club’s programs in horticulture, floral design, conservation and fundraising. She received wonderful recognition for local beautification projects, her work as RGC president, and co-chairing statewide events. She took great pride in each and every one of these endeavors, but the lasting friendships and camaraderie were what made this part of her life so meaningful.

Jay Howard Reynolds, 90, of the Atrium at Navesink Harbor in Red Bank, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, Eve of the Feast of the Presentation, February 1^st, 2021, after a brief illness. Jay was born in 1930 in Neshannock, PA, the second son of the late Howard Earl Reynolds and Rachel LaDora Reynolds (nee Ralston).

He was a leader in the telecommunications industry and was instrumental in the use of microwave transmission and development of HDTV through his employment with several domestic and international companies. Over the years, he was an active member of each of his communities, serving on local church sessions and resident association boards, most recently as vice president of the community board at the Atrium and editor of the News Reviews & Reflections, in addition to his roles as resident tech consultant and pool shark in the billiards hall.

Thomas Webster Matchett, Jr., retired former Chief Financial Officer of Schwab Capital Markets, died on January 31, 2021. He was a graduate of Lawrence College, Appleton, Wisconsin, and Northwestern University Kelloge School of Management where he earned an MBA degree. He also served in the US Army in Munich, Germany, from 1966 to 1968.

He was the son of Web and Jean Louise “Bunny” Matchett, both deceased, of Oak Park, Illinois. His sister, Holly Giles, of Reno, NV, and Anacortes, WA survives him.
