Edward H. Acosta

Edward H. Acosta

Edward H. Acosta, of Middletown, passed peacefully to Eternal Life on November 6th, 2018 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. He was the only child of Meta and Eduardo Acosta. Edward was born in New York City. He attended Stuyvesant High School. He served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. He graduated from Pace University.

After living in the Bronx, Manhattan and Queens he moved his family to Middletown, New Jersey. Before retiring he worked in the banking industry at Franklin Savings Bank, American Savings Bank  where he was always a huge hit playing Santa Claus and then finally at First Union Bank (as he called it the “FU” bank).

He was ever strong in his faith, whether it was at Immanuel in Manhattan, Emmaus in Ridgewood, Queens, Redeemer Lutheran in Glendale, Queens. He found his faith enriched at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Middletown, New Jersey.  Singing was one of his passions. He sang in church and other productions and choirs. He was always proud of his voice sharing it at weekly services, religious holiday cantatas and The Ocean Grove Choir Festival.

His first wife, Gertrude a/k/a Trudy (Suhr) brought Suzanne and Edward Henry into his life. Many years after Trudy’s death, Anna Marie (Pracht) brought Henry and Eric into the now blended family.

He is survived by his children Suzanne Shea (Dennis) and Edward Henry; stepsons Henry Frick and Eric Frick (Lynn); his grandchildren Kaitlin Bailey (James), Stephanie Frick, Colin Shea, Steven Frick, Callyn Acosta, Edward Acosta, Jennifer Scarpaci (Betsy), Casey Marohn (Lauren) and Kyle Moyer (Talya) who will miss him greatly.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 11th, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad Street, Red Bank, NJ.

The Church funeral service will be on Monday, November 12th at 10:00 AM at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 250 Harmony Road, Middletown, NJ 07748. Followed by entombment at Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to two of his favorite things:  King of Kings Lutheran Church and/or Monmouth County ASPCA, 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724.
