Karl B. Litzelman

Karl Burns Litzelman, 97, died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, May 4th, 2016. He was born in Blakely, Pa. on April 6th, 1919. He was proud to have been a Boy Scout and an Eagle Scout and being in the AV club in high school. He always loved gadgets, "new technology" and music - he started organ lessons when he was 65. He met the love of his life, Marjorie, while attending college at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He was a loving and devoted husband for 74 years. Karl was in WW II and served in the Pacific theater where he received a Purple Heart. He was ultimately stationed at Ft Monmouth with the Signal Corp, was active in the NJ National Guard and retired from the Army Reserve as a Lt. Colonel. He then worked on the private sector and retired from Shrewsbury State Bank as a Business Development Officer in 1992.

He is remembered as a true gentleman with a friendly loving spirit and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife Marjorie, their three daughters - Mary Mortier and husband Alain, Janne Nemyo, Linda Curry and husband Mike. Please join us for a Celebration of his Life on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 11am at The Presbyterian Church at Shrewsbury, 352 Sycamore Ave., Shrewsbury, NJ. Interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the church's Organ Fund. Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank is entrusted with the arrangements.
