Arline F. King

Arline F. King, 90, of Mace Chasm Road, Keeseville, and more recently of Prospect Avenue, Plattsburgh, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Meadowbrook Healthcare, Plattsburgh, NY.

She was born in Teaneck, NJ, the daughter of William and Jacqueline (Brosnan) Feste.

Arline grew up in New Jersey, living near the Jersey shore. In 1945 she met Robert King in the local post office of Highlands, NJ. In July of the same year she and Robert married and Arline was introduced to the North Country, when Robert brought her to his family's summer house in Port Douglas, NY near Lake Champlain, for their honeymoon.

During the early years of her marriage, her husband Robert spent much time at sea as he sailed as Captain for the U.S.Lines Steamship Co. Arline was a natural homemaker. She loved her husband, 66 years of marriage, and enjoyed raising their three children. Arline was gifted in being a loving and caring person to her family and enjoyed having the family around her, especially all the children. She enjoyed the beauty of the North Country and spending summers at camp. Her family has wonderful memories of visiting Arline at camp for summer vacations.

It was in 1963 that Arline moved from NJ to Keeseville. She and her husband purchased the Mace Farm on Mace Chasm Road. Together they learned the apple business and expanded the farm that is known today as King Orchard. As Robert continued to sail and was not able to spend full time on the farm until his retirement from the sea, Arline saw to it that home and business ran smoothly.

Arline was an active member in the Episcopal Church and her church family consisted of members of St. Paul's in Keeseville, Trinity in Plattsburgh and The Church of the Good Shepherd in Elizabethtown. She served on various councils and committees locally and throughout the Diocese of Albany.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Marguerite Gapp and husband Joseph of N. Greenbush NY, daughter Roberta Sullivan and husband Rev. David of Peru, NY and her son Jonathan King of Truckee, Calif. Her brother Henry Feste and wife Helen of Porter, TX and her sister Alice Clark of Little Silver, NJ; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. King, February 9, 2012.

There were no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by The Right Reverend William H. Love, Diocesan Bishop of Albany, on Tuesday, March 8th at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Elizabethtown, NY.

On Saturday, March 12th there will be visitation from 11 to 11:30 am and a funeral service at 11:30 am at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, with interment to follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
