With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Patricia J. McEvoy on October 5, 2026, at the age of 95.
Patricia Joyce Mulvaney Voetsch McEvoy was born in Newark, NJ, on March 14, 1931. As a member of one of the original families of Sunken City in Middletown, NJ, she raised her two sons, Mark James and Keith Robert Voetsch. Mark and his wife, Patricia, now live in North Carolina, while Keith and his wife, Barbara Ann, reside in Lincroft, NJ.
She is also survived by her grandsons, Keith Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth, of Middletown, NJ, and Bryan Patrick and his wife, Jessica, of Neptune City, NJ; her great-grandchildren, Owen Francis and newborn Claire Elizabeth; and extended family members throughout the country.
Pat, as she was affectionately known, was married to James McEvoy until his passing in 2001. They shared a deeply loving marriage and enjoyed traveling, but most of all, they treasured spending time with family at their second home in Diamond Beach, NJ.
Pat had a distinguished career spanning 40 years at Stout, O’Hagen and O’Hagen. She served as a legal administrator for many years and was a well-respected member of the Legal Administrators of New Jersey. In her own words, she “loved the law and helping clients.” She cherished her Irish heritage, and a highlight of her life was a bucket-list trip to Ireland with Mark, Pat, and her grandsons, Keith Jr. and Bryan Patrick.
Pat was a loving and generous woman who supported many meaningful causes. She was a devoted supporter of St. Vincent’s Academy in Newark, NJ, and a contributor to the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark. She also took great pride in supporting her family whenever needed.
She loved spending time at Edgewater Beach Club in Sea Bright, NJ, and in Diamond Beach, NJ. A wonderful swimmer, she continued swimming well into her eighties. After her husband Jim’s passing, she made her home in the Four Seasons community in Lakewood, NJ, where she found joy in making new friends and gardening, a passion she cherished throughout her life.
Her family is deeply grateful to the staff at Hackensack Meridian’s Villas at Holmdel Commons for the expert and compassionate care they provided during her final years.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad Street, Red Bank, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the same day, following the visitation, at 11 a.m. at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 94 Broad Street, Red Bank, NJ. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Jim, at a private family burial at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
