Patricia Kennedy

Patricia Kennedy

Patricia Kennedy, born Patricia Wegrocki, 83, of Middletown, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, February 9th.

Pat lived a life defined not by a single title, but by a remarkable list of them: Artist. Archaeologist. Historian. Teacher. Calligrapher. Quilter. Scholar. Adventurer. Musician. Champion Fencer. Majorette. Model. Mother. Grandmother.

In short, she was extraordinary, and there is simply not enough space here to capture the richness of her life. If you knew her, you understand. She was a role model for young women everywhere and a testament to living life on your own terms, following your passions, and never letting anything stand in your way.

She is survived by her sister, Joanne Sewell (Rich Sewell); her brother, Joe Wegrocki (Carol Charron); her sons, Kevin Kernahan (Deb Kernahan), Sean Kernahan (Michele Kernahan), and Brendan Kennedy (Aimee Kennedy); her six grandchildren, Jacob, Eamonn, Taylor, Ryan, Elliott, and Ivy; along with a lifetime of work, a legacy of curiosity, creativity, and craft, and a family of creators, artists, educators, and all-around awesome people whom she loved, admired, and inspired.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1st from 12-2 pm with a service at 1:30 pm at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ 07701. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Monmouth County Historical Association, 70 Court Street, Freehold, NJ 07728, or online at www.monmouthhistory.org/donate.
