Charles Edward Senion, 87 years old, a lifetime Red Bank resident, died Friday morning March 27, 2009 at Community Medical Center, Toms River after a brief illness.
He grew up in Red Bank where his father had an auto repair business on Union Street. After his father passed away when he was a teenager, he went to work to help support his mother and younger sister. He graduated from Red Bank High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Army in WWII and rose to the rank of crew chief on a B-29 bomber in the 20th Air Force 468th “Billy Mitchell Group”. He flew from Kharagpur India and Pungshaw China to Japan, Manchuria and Taiwan on bombing missions. While on leave from the Army he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Audrey Carhart, and were married for over 60 years. After the war he went to work for Bendix Aviation Corporation in Eatontown from which he retired. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Red Bank, a founder of the Red Bank Junior Rifle Club, the leader of Boy Scout Troop #17 in Red Bank and a volunteer with Holiday Express.
He was predeceased by his wife Audrey. Surviving is a sister, Jane Garrison of Little Silver; a son, Gerald Senion and his wife Mary of Jackson, Tennessee; a daughter, Lynn Jackson and her husband Charles of Red Bank; four grandchildren, Melissa Carmichael, Erich Jackson, Amanda Wilkes, Laura Jackson and three great grand children, Kylie, Morgan and Madison Wilkes. Charles also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank on Sunday, March 30th from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
