Michael Patrick Bernardi, 72, died on January 8, 2025 after a long illness.

Michael was a native of North Bergen, New Jersey, spending much of his life there. He moved to Belford 22 years ago.

A graduate of North Bergen High School, he went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in business at Jersey City State College. Michael worked in data processing during the early years of computer technology. He also specialized in office management, and retired from his position in the security department at United Parcel Service in 2010.

In his free time, Michael loved fishing, rock and roll, and photography, as well as working on and driving his car.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Bernardi of Belford, NJ and his father Steven Bernardi. He is survived by his sister, Stephanie and brother-in-law, Dr. Frank Picone; two nephews, Marcello (wife Jamie) and Keith (wife Jeanne) and their son, Basil.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 27th from 10-11 am with a prayer service to begin at 11 am at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ 07701. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to St. Jude Hospital for Children at st.jude.org in Michael’s name.
