Gregory Lawrence Lotozo passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024, at the age of 61. Born on September 8, 1963, Greg overcame extraordinary challenges with a resilience and joy that inspired everyone who knew him.
Greg is survived by his devoted parents, Ronald and Dale Lotozo; his brothers, Todd and David; his sister, Lori; his beloved nieces, Jayne, Jaclyn, and Jessica; and his cherished grand-nieces and nephews, his Aunts Nancy and Marilyn, cousins and many friends. He was the heart of his family, forming deep bonds and bringing a unique light to every gathering, especially his many visits home.
Greg was a passionate New York Yankees fan. His love of sports extended to the Dallas Cowboys, adding depth to his ever-present enthusiasm for life’s simple joys. Whether it was memorabilia, classic movies like Home Alone, or the comfort of a fresh pack of white T-shirts and socks at Christmas, Greg found happiness in the little things. Most important to him were the many people in his life and the love he gave and received.
A long-time resident of HOPE Christian Services (formerly Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat), Greg spent more than 40 years surrounded by an extended family of staff and fellow residents who adored him. His sharp wit, playful humor, and infectious laughter created a legacy of joy, often expressed through inside jokes and lighthearted teasing.
Despite living with cerebral palsy and its challenges, Greg had a remarkably bright outlook on life. A phrase he often shared, “Don’t worry about it, it will be alright,” perfectly captured his enduring spirit and wisdom. Greg’s presence was like sunshine on the cloudiest of days, a lesson in gratitude and perspective for all who knew him.
Greg’s life was nothing short of a miracle. Though his early prognosis was grim, he defied the odds at every turn, living a full and inspiring life for 61 incredible years. His passing, timed with the spirit of togetherness on Thanksgiving, reflects his thoughtfulness—ensuring his loved ones were fed and gathered before he quietly said, “I have to go.”
Greg's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him. His dimples, his laughter, and his remarkable spirit remain etched in our memories.
A celebration of Greg’s life will be held on Saturday, December 14th, from 12-3 p.m. with a service at 2:30 pm at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ 07701, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Greg’s memory to HOPE Christian Services, 700 Mountain Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
Rest in peace, Greg. You have left an indelible mark on this world, and your memory will forever be a blessing. “Love you Greggy” – Dad. “Here’s a kiss, did you get it?” – Mom.
