Eileen A. Sprake

Eileen A. Sprake

Eileen A. Sprake, 90, of Middletown, NJ, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday April 30, 2023. She was born and raised in Jersey City, graduating from St. Paul’s Grammar School and Snyder High School. Eileen was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. With her lifelong focus on family, she was the one that you went to in times of trouble and the one you called when you needed a laugh. In her early years, Eileen moved with the family to Newark, NJ, Littleton, MA, Bay Village, OH, and Lincroft, NJ. Upon retirement with her husband, she moved to Toms River, NJ, and then finally back to Middletown, NJ where she received the very best support and care from a new community of friends at Abor Terrace.

She was pre-deceased by her parents, Patrick J. and Mary (Kelly) Costello, of Jersey City and then Lincroft, her husband Warren O. Sprake, Toms River, NJ, her son Patrick E. Sprake, Lincroft, NJ; her brothers, Patrick J. Costello, Weehawken, NJ, James F. Costello, New Orleans, LA, Edward F. Costello, Lincroft, NJ, Thomas P. Costello, Whiting, NJ, and her sisters, Helen Pries, Spring Hill, FL and Regina Norton, Monmouth Beach, NJ.

Eileen is survived by her children, Kathleen Pagington and William Thomas, Zephyrhills, FL, Ronald and Sharon Sprake, Jensen Beach, FL, Warren and Mary Sprake, Aberdeen, NJ, Kevin and Jennifer Sprake, Lincroft, NJ, and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Stacey, Kenny, Laura, Colin, Alaina, Kevin, Andrea, Brooke and Marco Pagington and Hope, Matthew, Joseph, and Daniel Sprake. She was loved by many nieces and nephews throughout her life and all will miss her dearly. Eileen’s extended family included: The “original” Blue Bells of the Red Bank YMCA, and her friends and caregivers at Arbor Terrace in Middletown, as well as so many other lives that she touched so beautifully through life’s journey.

In honor of Eileen’s love of her Irish heritage we, offer a verse from a beautiful song to bring comfort to all who will miss her quick wit, laughter, and her loving embrace.

Though your message was unspoken, still the truth in silence lies
as we gaze upon your vision, and the truth I try to find
here I stand with John the teacher, and with Joseph at your side
and I see the Lamb of God, on the Altar glorified
Golden Rose, Queen of Ireland, all my cares and troubles cease
as we kneel with love before you, Lady of Knock, my Queen of Peace.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 8th from 4-7pm at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ 07701. Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 9th at 10 am at St. Catharine’s Church, 215 Essex Ave, Spring Lake, NJ 07762. Burial will follow at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt, NJ.
