Anthony Thomas Bruno

Anthony Thomas Bruno, age 85, died peacefully Friday, July 22, 2022 at Opis Bridgeview Center in Ormond Beach, Florida. He was born at Riverview Hospital in Red Bank, NJ to Thomas and Lucia Bruno and resided in Little Silver for most of his life. After graduating Red Bank High School (RBHS) in 1951, Anthony attended the University of Notre Dame where he graduated with magna cum laude honors in 1960 and completed law school in 1961. While at Notre Dame, Anthony met his beloved wife, Claudia, and they were married on September 28, 1963.

Over the next 35 years, Anthony built his law practice at the firm of Reussille, Mausner, Carotenuto, Bruno, Barger Esq. During that time, Anthony volunteered in multiple capacities for Little Silver including councilman, mayor, and as a life member of the Little Silver Volunteer Fire Co. He served on various boards including the Monmouth County Mental Health Association, the NJ Association for Mental Health and the Center for Vocational Rehabilitation. After serving Little Silver’s local government for decades, Anthony was appointed in May 1996 to be a New Jersey Administrative Law Judge until his retirement in 2005.

Anthony was an active member of the Voluntas Dei Institute, as well as Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist, Lector and other roles at the Catholic Faith Community of St. Joan of Arc, Fort Monmouth, NJ and more recently, at the Church of the Nativity. Additionally, Anthony served in the military as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve (298 th ASA Co). He received multiple awards including the Greater Monmouth Country Chamber of Commerce “elected Official of the Year” award and the Greater Red Bank Jaycees “Distinguished Service Award”.

Left to honor Anthony and remember his love are Anthony’s two children, Bernadette Bruno and Christopher (Dawn) Bruno; four grandchildren Taylor, Christopher, Breanna and Shane; brother Thomas (Kristine) Bruno of Little Silver; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and adoring friends. Anthony was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife, Claudia Anne Touhey Bruno and beloved son, Anthony T.J. Bruno.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 pm on Sunday, July 31st at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 1st at 10:00 am at the Church of the Nativity, 180 Ridge Road, Fair Haven, NJ. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the T.J. Bruno Memorial Scholarship for Students with Disabilities, Brookdale Community College Foundation, 765 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft, NJ 07738-9988.
