Mary Torrisi Cole, age 75, passed away peacefully at her home in Neptune, NJ on July 25, surrounded by her family.
Mary was born in New Brunswick on July 23, 1947 to the late Angelo Torrisi and Jennie Anastasi Torrisi. In addition to her parents, Mary is predeceased by her son Jonathan Cole.
Mary received a St. Elizabeth’s Nursing School degree, and later continued her studies at Georgian Court, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Psychology. She combined these studies in her passionate work as a Psychiatric Nurse, serving the Monmouth County community for many years until her retirement.
Outside of work, Mary enjoyed listening to and playing music of various styles, ranging from folk artists like Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell to classical and opera. She volunteered her time for multiple charitable foundations. She treasured the time she spent with her loving husband of 51 years, Bruce Cole, at home and on their many travels to places around the world. Her special place to spend time was at the beach, especially when accompanied by her 3 beloved grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her husband Bruce Cole of Neptune, daughter Jennifer Beckman (Richard) of Ocean Township, son Gregory Cole of Brooklyn, NY, and grandchildren Jonathan, Stephen and Caroline Beckman, all of Ocean Township. She is also survived by her brother Richard Torrisi (Madeleine), sister Patricia Hill, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, July 29th from 4-7 pm at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ 07701. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 30th at 9:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Red Bank, followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown.
