William Edward Howarth, Sr. passed away, peacefully, on Tuesday, November 29th, 2016. Born in Bayonne, Bill lived most of his life in Jersey City until moving to Lincroft in 2004.
He was predeceased by his parents, Grace Lutier and David Howarth, his brother David, and his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Bridget Coleman. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served during WWII. He worked at Lightolier for 47 years.
Bill liked to dance with his bride, bowl, and spend time in his carpentry shop. Bill was a gentle soul with a wicked sense of humor.
Bill lives on in the hearts of his children: Gail & Al Cook, Bill & Kathy Howarth, Grace Howarth & John Dziemian. He was affectionately known as “Pop” to grandchildren Bryan and Duygu Cook, Kristin and Rui Borges, Keryn Howarth, Billy Howarth, Brynn Dziemian and great grandchild, Cameron. Also surviving are Bill’s siblings: Ken, Elaine, Grace and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 7th, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St. Red Bank. Private burial at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery.
