Thorel Geltzeiler, 96 (nee Denniston) of Oceanport, NJ passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022. She was born in Maplewood, New Jersey on September 14, 1925 to her parents Adele and William Denniston. Thorel was predeceased by her husband Neil in 2005, the love of her life. She is survived by her children Barbara (John) Weber, Bruce (Kathleen) Geltzeiler, William (Karen) Geltzeiler, and Phillip Geltzeiler. Her grandchildren, Aaron (Michelle) Weber, Lara (Kevin) Lafin, Jessica (Michael) Roberto, William (Christine) Geltzeiler. Jr., Daniel (Katelyn) Geltzeiler, Timothy Geltzeiler, Anne (Landon) Lewandowski, Dylan Geltzeiler, Jack Geltzeiler and Kyle Geltzeiler. Great-grandmother of Keelyn, Brianna and Ciara Weber, Ryan Lafin, Wyatt Geltzeiler, Brady Roberto, Lily Geltzeiler, Carmella Roberto and Dominick George Geltzeiler.
Thorel and husband Neil moved from Warren Township, NJ to Rumson in 1979. She was a kind and generous person and was loved by so many. Her hobbies, to name a few, consisted of her love of reading, traveling, gardening and playing bridge with her friends. She had an unending love of family. Thorel belonged to a number of clubs and charity organizations. They were her passion. She served as president of the Little Silver Garden Club, was one of the founding members of the Friends of the Monmouth Museum, served as President of the ARC of Monmouth County and was on the Board of Trustees of the Parker Homestead 1665, Little Silver, and so many others. In 2020, Thorel received the Volunteer of the Year Award from Parker House for her tireless support of the Homestead.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 1st from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank, NJ 07701. Private cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
