James William Cox, 54, of Little Silver, passed away on December 7, 2021 after a brief, courageous battle with Pancreatic cancer.
Jim was born to Kathleen Brooks (nee Ottinger) and James Cox in New York City. He grew up in Rockaway Beach, New York and graduated from Archbishop Molloy High School. He then went on to receive his Bachelor's degree from Pace University in Business Management.
After graduating, Jim began working for the New York Stock Exchange, kickstarting a 35 year career in Risk and Compliance. He was currently working for Standard & Poor's, a position he very much enjoyed.
Jim was predeceased by his father James Cox. He is survived by his mother Kathleen Brooks. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 20 years Amy (Johnson) and his adored sons Ryan and Carter. His brothers and sisters in law, Robert and Claire Passarella, Thomas and Kristen Johnson, Edward and Karen Cox, and Patrick and Elizabeth Cox. As well as his nieces and nephews Connor, Gillian, William, Elizabeth, Katie, Alexander, Josh(and his wife Taylor) Isabella, Rebekah and Samantha.
Jim thoroughly enjoyed living at the shore, taking swims in the ocean (reminding him of his childhood in Rockaway) and hosting BBQ’s. An avid sports fan, history buff, connoisseur of useless information, and he always knew the score of the game. Known by friends and colleagues for his friendliness, calm demeanor and understated sense of humor.
Jim enjoyed life to the fullest. He dearly loved his family and his friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
