Anne J. Alberta

 Anne J. Alberta passed away Friday, February 21, 2020 surrounded by her family at Jersey Shore Medical Center. She was 95 years of age.

Anne was born Anne Grace Brescia in Newark, N.J. on April 27, 1924. Her parents were Patrick and Mary Grace Brescia. She also had one sister, Mary (Brescia) Cassio. All predeceased her.

Anne grew up in Elizabeth, N.J. and attended, Holy Rosary Elementary School, Battin High School, and Berkeley Secretarial School in East Orange, N.J. She was later employed as a Secretary in the Medical Dept. of the New York Times in New York City, N.Y., where she was employed for several years before resigning to raise her family.\

On June 6, 1947, Anne and James Alberta were married and had four children. James passed away in 1993. They were married for 46 years. Together they raised their children in Morgan, a section of Sayreville, N.J. They later retired and moved to Brick, N.J. where Anne lived until September 2019. She recently moved into an Assisted Living Facility in Tinton Falls N.J.

Anne was a full-time stay at home Mom during those years.

As a youth, she was a strong swimmer, and worked on weekends while attending high school in the Hair Salon owned by her father in Newark N.J. She has always had a great love for music, enjoyed singing and watching movies on tv, loved to cook, go out for Dinner, play cards, and recently was a serious Bingo player.

She had a strong sense of home and family and taught that to her children. She is survived by her daughters, Anne, M. Alberta, of Brick, N.J., Donna Grace Heleotis and her husband, Thomas, of Tinton Falls, N.J., and her sons, John.P. Alberta and his wife, Marie, of Parlin, N.J., and James. D Alberta and his wife, Kathleen, of Chattanooga, T.N.. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 29th from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, N.J., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. James RC Church, 94 Broad St, Red Bank. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Keyport.
