James Craig Leidner of New York City died Thursday morning, October 6, 2016 after a motor vehicle accident in New Jersey. Craig was born in Marshalltown, Iowa. His mother, Elizabeth Craig Leidner of New York City, and his father, Thomas Leidner, of Brunswick, ME, as well as his sister, Durie Leidner Lynch and brother, Thomas W. Leidner II, and their children survive him. His grandparents, Nanette and James Craig, of Fair Haven, and Ida and Thomas Leidner preceded him in death.
Craig spent portions of his childhood in New York City, Charlottesville, Virginia and Fair Haven, New Jersey. Craig attended Brookdale Community College. He was passionate about sports, especially basketball and soccer, and worked as an ardent soccer referee in the Red Bank area. He also was a talented cook and worked as a chef. His family will miss him greatly, especially his sense of humor, his amusing impersonations, and wonderful laugh among many other attributes.
A funeral service will be held at St. George’s by the River, 7 Lincoln Avenue, Rumson, NJ on October 13, 2016 at 11 AM and will be officiated by his uncle, The Reverend George Conway. Interment will be next to his grandparents in the cemetery at All Saints Memorial Church in Navesink, NJ. Thompson Memorial Home of Red Bank, N.J. is in charge of arrangements.
